Mark your calendar on Saturday, June 8, 2024, for the annual Owensboro Lions Club Soap Box Derby race. The event will start at 8:00 a.m. and end with the final race in the early afternoon.The event will be held at the Owensboro Lions Club Soap Box Derby Track, 400 Booth Field Road in Owensboro, Kentucky.
This event is for you if you have participated in the past or like racing but have never seen or participated in gravity racing. The Owensboro Lions Club has hosted Soap Box Derby since 2001.
There are three different divisions, Stock, Super Stock and Masters.
The Stock division is for racers 7-13 years old, and the Stock car can accommodate a racer up to approximately 5’3” tall and 125 pounds. The Super Stock division is designed for racers 9-18 years old, and the Super Stock car can fit a larger racer up to about 6’0” tall and 150 pounds. The Masters Division is for racers 10-20 years old and can seat a participant up to 160 pounds.
