Film & Discussion Event: Bending the Arc

Discover the inspiring story of innovation, collaboration, and determination that transformed global health. Through the award-winning documentary Bending the Arc, you'll follow the remarkable story of a group of visionary leaders who challenged conventional thinking to bring life-saving healthcare to some of the world's most underserved communities.

Following the screening, stay for a lively community discussion exploring how the film's themes continue to shape healthcare today—from strengthening global health supply chains to improving access to care in rural and remote communities. Together, we'll celebrate the progress that's been made, reflect on the challenges that remain, and share ideas for creating healthier, more equitable communities.

Whether you're passionate about global health, interested in rural healthcare, work in the health sector, or are simply curious to learn more, this event offers an opportunity to connect, be inspired, and join the conversation. Everyone is welcome—we look forward to celebrating the impact that bold ideas and collective action can have on the future of healthcare.

Film synopsis:

Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, and Ophelia Dahl—embarked on a journey that would transform global health. Not long ago, the global health establishment declared it was impossible to treat impoverished people suffering from certain deadly diseases, and that delivering quality care in marginalized communities was “unsustainable.”

These social justice and global health advocates set out to prove them wrong. PIH’s revolutionary model of training community members as health workers and treating all people with dignity and world-class medicine has forever changed public health. Bending the Arc chronicles their inspiring story and the founding of Partners In Health.
