Eisenhart Auditorium | Rochester, NY
6:30 PM Workshop: Naloxone Training. The Monroe County Health Department will be visiting us and showing how to save a life by using a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. (Naloxone is safe; it has no effect on someone who does not have opioids in their system, and it is not a treatment for opioid use disorder.)
7:30pm Presentation: The Wild Life of Remote Ornithology by Aurora Kuczek
Cold, wet, muddy, and windy. These are words to describe the conditions faced by biologists working in remote areas researching birds, some that may be declining or understudied. Living and working in remoteness has a unique set of challenges, but the wonderment and rarity make it all worth it. We will explore some remote parts of the world with stories from the field and discover the species who inhabit these remote places.
Aurora Kuczek is a wildlife biologist who has worked with birds across the Americas. She will be talking about her work and her adventures over the years. From spending days at sea without seeing land to trudging up windswept hills of Patagonia, she knows what it takes to be resilient in a diverse environment.
