You may not realize it, but winter is a fantastic time to photograph wildlife. While, yes, some animals are fast asleep and hibernating, others tough out the cold dark months. These are the animals we intend to photograph. Many migratory waterfowl overwinter in the lakes and ponds of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Resident birds like cardinals and woodpeckers flock to bird feeders for easy meals. Deer and squirrels sift through the dead leaves for tasty seeds and shoots. If you know when and where to look, wildlife can always be found.Come up to Mill Mountain for a Wildlife Photography Workshop. Before we brave the cold, our professional photographer will go over best practices for photographing moving subjects, what times of day are best to see certain species, and how to practice ethical wildlife photography. Remember, the shot isn't more important than the animal's safety and wellbeing.
