Outdoor Film Screening: ‘In the Mood for Love’

Join us for an outdoor film screening of ‘In the Mood for Love’ (200) in celebration of ‘’ at .

A great lover of cinema, Angel Otero has selected three films to be shown to complement his exhibition. The first, Wong Kar-wai’s classic ‘In the Mood for Love’ (2000) is a firm favorite of Otero’s, with its themes of connection, place, loss, longing and memory echoing the artist’s own interests.

The film will be shown on a large LED screen in our farmyard. Please bring your own chairs, cushions and blankets. The available outdoor space will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Dogs are welcome on leads. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. We recommend an age rating of 13 years and above.

Tickets cost £3 per person, with free entry to anyone under 18 years. All proceeds from the tickets sales will support our 2024 – 2026 charity partner Good Company Bruton. Advance booking is essential.

Roth Bar will be serving food from the fire, which can be purchased throughout the evening alongside a selection of drinks.

Please note that the gallery and garden close at 5 pm. Roth Bar will be open for drinks until 9 pm. Da Costa will taking dinner reservations until 9.30 pm.

About ‘In the Mood for Love’
In 1962, journalist Chow Mo-wan and his wife move into a Hong Kong apartment, but Chow’s spouse is often away on business. Before long, the lonely Chow makes the acquaintance of the alluring Su Li-zhen, whose own significant other also seems preoccupied with work. As the two friends realize their respective partners are cheating on them, they begin to fall for one another; however, neither wants to stoop to the level of the unfaithful spouses.

The film is rated PG with a running time of 1 hour, 38 minutes.

About ‘Angel Otero. Agua Salada’
Angel Otero’s UK exhibition features a deeply personal body of work completed during an artist residency in Somerset. Known for his physically immersive approach to paint as material, Otero transforms the medium itself—scraping, layering and peeling dried oil paint to create richly textured compositions that hover between abstraction and figuration. Moving his studio practice from New York and Puerto Rico temporarily to Somerset, the residency provided Otero with the opportunity to continue his exploration of memory, place and meaning in the context of a new environment.

The exhibition is on view from 2 May through 18 October.
