Out of the Box: Deaf Politics Symposium

Signs@HWU is excited to host a Deaf Politics symposium, titled Out of the Box! Deaf politics... You think it’s boring? Talking about activism like lobbying for the BSL Act; interpreting, who decides the quality of interpreters and deaf interpreters? Ecosystem, how do deaf businesses benefit deaf people? Language includes sensitive discussions, like which signs are right? That’s just a small part of deaf politics!

This event is open to anyone – you don’t have to be part of a university; the only criterion is that you’re interested in the topic… All is welcome! This event is BSL only, which means there won’t be any interpreters.

Also, the event is completely free – just book your space!
