A theatrical journey with three women from Italian, Malaysian and Sierra Leonean backgrounds, celebrating food and cultural traditions.Out of Date is a theatrical celebration featuring a collection of three monologues from three women of Italian, Malaysian, and Sierra Leonean backgrounds.
United by their love for food, each character explores how culinary traditions are a cornerstone of their cultures and a universal bridge between people. Through the art of storytelling, they share tales passed down from grandmothers to mothers to them, intertwining their personal experiences with words of inherited wisdom.
This immersive performance blends heartfelt narratives with the rich, sensory vocabulary of food narratives, offering audiences the diverse yet interconnected tapestries of each woman's lives and traditions.

At least 30 minutes before the show. Our performances start bang on time and it takes a hot second to welcome you into the building.

The Butterfly Club is a licensed venue. Accordingly, patrons under 18 are only allowed on premises in the company of a parent or legal guardian.

We strongly encourage using public transport. The Butterfly Club is a short stroll from Flinders Street station and Melbourne Central, and an even shorter stroll from any tram that travels through Swanston or Collins Streets (get off at Town Hall).
