Our Zero Selby Celebration event

Up For Yorkshire and Our Zero Selby invites residents, partners and supporters to a special Celebration Event marking the close of the two‑year community climate action programme.

This uplifting evening is a chance to relive the highlights of Our Zero Selby, revisit the projects residents helped shape, and celebrate the creativity and commitment that has transformed climate engagement across the town.

A major feature of the event will be an insider’s look at how the Netherlands and Belgium are revolutionising second‑hand retail, textile reuse and large‑scale recycling. Attendees will get a rare behind‑the‑scenes glimpse into European systems that turn waste into high‑value raw materials—knowledge that has directly inspired Selby’s emerging Shop for the Future charity‑shop network.

We are delighted to be joined online by Eric Peterson of Agricon Nederland, whose expertise in circular economy innovation, waste management, and converting discarded materials into new resources will inspire and amaze. Eric generously hosted and funded the team's learning trip to the Netherlands and Belgium, sharing access to leading recycling facilities, reuse centres and textile‑processing innovations.
