About this Event

About the organisers

This educational and practical workshop co-run by Black South West Network and JustFair and will equip attendees with crucial knowledge on how to utilise rights to achieve racial justice.

About the event

This workshop will introduce your economic, social and cultural rights and explore how naming, claiming and defending our rights can help challenge racial inequality and build a fairer future for everyone. Join us to learn, share and act.

Who is the event for

This event is targeted towards Black and Minoritised community members and organisations in the South West of England who want to learn more about how and why framing the issues our communities face as human rights issues can be a powerful tool. However, this workshop is welcome to all! Both organisations and individuals are very welcome. No prior knowledge is required.

What will be covered?

  • What are human rights? 
  • Human rights principles 
  • Protection of human rights at international, regional, domestic levels
  • Economic, social, cultural and environmental rights
  • Responsibilities under law/what does it mean to have a right?

What else do I need to know?

Food will be provided.

This venue is accessible via in-built ramps, double-wide doors, and an elevator.

Free parking is available at the side and rear of the venue in an open-air car park.

There are 2 Blue Badge bays (355cm × 500cm) located 26–33 m from the main entrance. Spaces cannot be reserved in advance. The route to the entrance is wheelchair accessible with assistance, as it includes some slopes/ramps.
