OUR PLAYLIST
About this Event
A Christian Creative & Collective Worship Experience
We spend a lot of time worshiping to songs from someone else’s heart...their testimony, their prayer, their pain, their gratitude, their encounter with God.
And that’s beautiful.
But what’s in your heart?
You don’t have to be a professional artist to have a song within you.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." - Colossians 3:16
You don’t have to be a singer or rapper.
You don’t have to be a songwriter.
You don’t have to know how to make music.
You don’t even have to finish what you start.
Just come as you are. Bring your headphones. Bring your heart. We’ll provide the notebook and pen.
And let’s see what comes out.
Here's the breakdown:
8:00–9:00 PM — WRITE
HEADPHONES ON
This hour is between you, your thoughts, your heart, and God.
Put your headphones on. Find an instrumental, a type beat, an instrumental version of a song you already love, or simply find a sound that moves you.
Then just write.
It can be a song.
A rap.
A spoken word piece.
A poem.
A prayer.
A testimony.
There are no writing prompts telling you what you’re supposed to say. This is your opportunity to express what’s actually on your heart.
No pressure. No rules. Just express yourself.
And your work does not have to be finished.
Maybe you write a verse this month. Maybe you come back next month and finally find the chorus. Maybe you work on it between sessions and return when you’re ready to share it.
Or maybe you write something completely different every time you come.
There’s no deadline on your worship.
9:00–10:00 PM — WORSHIP
HEADPHONES OFF
Now we come back together.
One at a time, anyone who wants to share gets the floor.
Sing it. Rap it. Speak it. Read it. Play the instrumental and perform over it. Share the unfinished version.
And this isn’t only about performing your work.
It’s about letting us hear your heart behind it.
Where did those lyrics come from?
What were you thinking about?
What did you experience?
What does that line mean to you?
This is part performance, part lyrical breakdown, part testimony, and all worship.
And if you don’t want to perform? You don’t have to.
You can simply listen.
In many ways, that’s what the church is already accustomed to doing when we listen to worship music, Christian Hip Hop, etc....we’re listening to someone else’s words, testimony, prayer, and experience.
The difference here is that we’re sitting across from the person whose heart those words came from.
That gives us an opportunity to do more than hear one another.
We can know one another.
We can pray for one another.
Encourage one another.
Show up for one another.
Share resources.
Meet needs.
Celebrate victories.
And worship together through the real stories represented in the room.
PRIVATE OR SHAREABLE — YOU CHOOSE.
Some things are meant to be expressed without becoming content.
Before you share, you decide:
PRIVATE — NO RECORDING
Phones stay down. What you share stays in the room.
SHAREABLE — RECORDING IS OKAY
You’re comfortable with your performance being recorded.
Your story belongs to you, and you decide how far it travels.
THEN THERE’S THE COLLECTIVE PLAYLIST.
Every monthly gathering creates Our Playlist—the sounds, stories, prayers, and worship represented by each member of the body of Christ.
Anyone who wants to can choose to contribute their work to our ongoing Collective Playlist.
That means someone who attends months after you may hear something you created, and you may hear the worship of someone you’ve never even met.
Your track doesn’t have to be perfect.
It doesn’t even have to be finished.
Recording (via Bandlab) will be available during your turn, and you decide when something is ready to be added.
Recorded a rough version this month?
Add it.
Come back next month and make it better?
We’ll update it.
Finished another song?
Add another one.
Or keep everything you’ve created private.
You decide what becomes part of Our Playlist.
Over time, we’re building a living collection of our prayers, testimonies, stories, struggles, gratitude, questions, victories, and worship. (kinda like the book of Psalms in the Bible)
Think of the Book of Psalms as a worship playlist: songs, prayers, praises, laments, and testimonies born from different people’s real experiences with God, gathered together so generations could worship through them. Our Playlist carries that same idea: different people, different stories, different sounds—one collective expression of worship.
