Guadalupe Statue Visit: A life-sized statue of the Pilgrim Mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe, is coming to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion as part of a worldwide tour in preparation for the 500th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill in 1531.The sculpture originates from the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. “This veneration experience will awaken a renewed sense of devotion and will build the ties between our nations,” said Monsignor Hernández Díaz, Rector of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This visit offers a unique and profound opportunity to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe’s apparition, especially meaningful at Champion Shrine, the site of the only approved Marian apparition in the United States. The convergence of these two historic apparitions deepens our spiritual connection across the continent and invites pilgrims to renew their faith and devotion.
Bishop David L. Ricken of the Diocese of Green Bay is celebrating the opening Mass on March 6th at 11:30am!
