The StoryTown Radio Show will be full of tales and tails on Monday, May 27 as the StoryTown Players share stories about our four-legged friends. We’ll have stories about family pets, including the triumphant return of Finn the dog, tales from the Humane Society, a check-in with local celebrity Kipekee at Brights Zoo, and much more. This show takes place at the Visitors Center on Monday, May 27 at 7PM. Music guests will be local favorites the Sweetwater Troubadours who describe their sound as an “eclectic assortment of tunes from the crazy quilt background of a honky tonk/bluegrass musician, wedded to a classical/folk musician with a West Indian twist.” They “give you country to calypso, old English ballade to medieval incantation – with originals thrown into the mix playing traditional Appalachian and Celtic music.” This month will also see the return of the Teller in Residence from Storytelling Live on the StoryTown Radio Show. We’re proud to partner with the International Storytelling Center to provide our audiences once again with a sneak peek at what they can see during the teller’s residency. Paul Strickland will be joining the show on May 27.
Tickets are $10 and available online at Jonesborough.com/tickets or by calling the Historic Visitors Center at 423-753-1010. The shows last approximately an hour. This month’s show is sponsored by Off the Leash Social, the “ultimate dog park and bar” experience in Johnson City.
The Radio Show is also recorded for broadcast on local NPR station WETS 89.5 out of Johnson City, which can be heard the last Wednesday of the month at 8PM.
