CALL TO ACTION - From Local to Global…help make history!In April 2026, Joyce Country & Western Lakes Geopark will be formally ratified by UNESCO with Global Geopark status. OUGHTERARD is the southern gateway to the Geopark.
“SAVE THE DATE” - Oughterard intends to celebrate this achievement between 20 - 26 APRIL. We are planning a display/exhibition in the town centre to inform visitors about the Geopark and its goals.
We invite Community groups, social groups, and businesses to submit creative ideas to attract and reward visitors to Oughterard and YOUR business or group. Proposals aimed at enhancing the visitor experience between the above dates should be emailed to: [email protected] . Together, we can encourage local collaboration to boost tourism and support our town's economy.
