The Otterbein Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Yonchak, will present a captivating concert on Wednesday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m., at the Fritsche Theater of Cowan Hall at 30 S Grove St, Westerville, OH. The evening's program will highlight the works of celebrated guest composer and conductor Dr. Erika Svanoe, who will be on hand to conduct her own compositions. The concert promises a diverse musical journey, also including works by renowned composers Gustav Holst and Frank Ticheli, completing a rich blend of classic and contemporary wind band repertoire. The concert's centerpiece will be the music of Dr. Erika Svanoe, a charismatic voice in modern wind band literature. Her presence as a guest conductor will provide a direct and personal connection to her creative vision, giving the audience insight into the inspiration behind her pieces. Alongside her innovative works, the ensemble will perform a rare presentation of Holst’s iconic First Suite in Eb (for 19 players, as designed by the composer), and An American Elegy by Ticheli, who is known for his ability to craft emotionally resonant and powerful scores.
