The Ōtaki Market’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic is a fun-filled event where children bring their favorite teddy bears for a market with games, storytelling, and special treats.Bring your big bears, small bears, old bears, colourful bears, and your most favourite, well-loved bears for a magical Story Time Under the Trees.
We’ll gather on picnic blankets beneath the leafy canopy, where imaginations will come alive and teddy bears will be the special guests of honour. We even heard a rumour there will be Candyfloss!

Bring a picnic blanket, grab some kai from the food trucks and sit down under the trees at the market
- 11am Storytime with Books&Co
We’re so excited to have Books & Co hosting a magical Story Time Under the Trees at our Teddy Bear’s Picnic!
- Crafting Table
We'll have a crafting table available, get crafty and hands-on for a gold coin donation.
- Facepainting
There will be Facepainting fun from Limitless Art
- Teddy Bear Competition
Bring along your biggest bear, tiniest bear, oldest treasure, most colourful creation, or your most-loved favourite and enter them in for a chance to win. We’ve got some beary exciting goodies to give away — including a special book voucher from Books & Co

- Bake Sale (featuring Blueberries)
Adding to the celebration, the Ōtaki Women’s Community Club will host a delicious bake sale featuring locally picked blueberries from Ohau Blueberries - a true taste of our region.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic rug, their best teddy companion, once you've visited the market, head down Books&Co to check out their awesome range of books!
