The planning for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution is officially underway with the theme, "Ossining 250: One Community, One Celebration!" The goal of the Ossining 250 (O250) is to celebrate and educate the entire community about Ossining's unique history as part of the "Neutral Ground" in Westchester County during the Revolutionary War. Celebrations in 2026 will include a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence during our annual July 3rd firework display, historical walking tours, and much more.
To ensure an inclusive and broad celebration, the community is invited to help plan and participate: an Advisory Committee is being formed, and a Community Kickoff & Idea Session is scheduled for Monday, November 3rd at 7:00 PM at Bethany Arts Community with the purpose of collecting ideas from all of Ossining’s local non-profits, residents, and businesses who are eager to participate and integrate the '250' theme into their events. This collaborative effort with local and regional heritage, art, cultural, and educational groups, as well as libraries, veterans' organizations, and private businesses, is designed to promote heritage tourism and enhance the general well-being and pleasure of all Westchester residents.
