About Oscar Lopez
For more than forty years, Oscar López has been one of Canada's most celebrated and beloved instrumental musicians. Born in Santiago, Chile, and proudly calling Calgary home since 1981, Oscar has built an international reputation through his extraordinary guitar artistry and his ability to connect deeply with audiences of all ages. A two-time Juno Award winner, Oscar is widely recognized as the "Master of the Latin String Guitar." His distinctive style blends Latin rhythms, flamenco passion, jazz improvisation, folk traditions, and world music influences into a sound that is both technically brilliant and emotionally uplifting.
Throughout a remarkable career that has taken him across Canada, the United States, Europe, and beyond, Oscar has become much more than an accomplished performer. Due to rising travel costs and lower-than-anticipated advance ticket sales, Calgary House Concerts has unfortunately had to reschedule Adam Karch's scheduled June 28 appearance. As an independent touring artist travelling from Eastern Canada, the financial realities of long-distance touring have become increasingly challenging, and despite our best efforts, the event could not reach a level that would make the trip sustainable. We hope to welcome him to Calgary in the future when circumstances allow. While we share the disappointment of not being able to present Adam's first Western Canadian tour stop, we are delighted to announce a very special replacement artist whose music has inspired audiences for more than four decades.
