The Donald Danforth Jr. Lecture on Native American Art will be given by Marla Redcorn-Miller, director of the Osage Nation Museum.
Redcorn-Miller will examine several works of Osage art from the Museum’s Danforth collection. She will focus on the life of the object as part of a cycle that includes its creation, use, and continued significance and connection to the Wahzhazhe Nikishe (Osage people).
About the Donald Danforth Jr. Lecture on Native American Art
In 2010, Carolyn Danforth gave the Museum 251 works of Plains Indian art collected by her late husband, Donald Danforth Jr. The Danforth collection is particularly strong in beadwork and quillwork on hide, including moccasins, pipe bags, assorted bags, pouches and cases, jewelry, children’s items, and horse regalia.
