Emerging Concert Artist Series presents - The Orpheus Quintet featuring:
Kara Thorpe (flute), Gahyun Lee (oboe), Justin Wang (clarinet), Jay Lee (bassoon) and Jude Austen Kaupe (French horn).
Orpheaus formed at the Sydney Conservatorium and was recently named as the 2026 Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s Fellowship Ensemble. They encapsulate the vibrancy, dedication and passion of our next generation of musicians.
About the Program
Experience the driving pulse of Valerie Coleman and Astor Piazzolla, and the colour, wit, and invention of György Ligeti; in a program tracing a powerful musical journey across continents and generations. Lyrical elegance and ensemble warmth shine in the music of Karl Pilss and Carl Nielsen, while Ross Edwards offers a moment of stillness and reflection inspired by the natural world. Together, these works form a compelling conversation between tradition and modernity, revealing the expressive range of the wind quintet.
