ORPHEUS: An Upper School Performance

Orpheus, Elmhurst Ballet School’s exciting summer performance programme for 2026, brings together a captivating mix of contemporary and classical storytelling through dance. These performances will showcase the remarkable talent of students from the Upper School, alongside the graduating Class of 2026, Elmhurst Ballet Company.

Featuring a diverse range of choreography and dance styles, Myths & Legends has given each year group the opportunity to collaborate with both Elmhurst tutors and acclaimed guest artists. Working with external creatives has allowed students to experience the choreographic process first hand, developing their artistry and performance skills. Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz will all feature throughout the programme, demonstrating the breadth and versatility of Elmhurst students.

Contemporary dance takes the spotlight with Year 13 students performing Invictus, a brand-new work created in collaboration with contemporary ballet choreographer Marika Brussel, who is working with Elmhurst students for the first time.

Ballet highlights include excerpts from The Dream, one of Frederick Ashton’s celebrated masterpieces of British ballet, as well as Dance of the Argonauts from David Bintley’s The Orpheus Suite, performed by Year 12 students. Continuing the Ashton celebration, the Year 13 women will present excerpts from Act II of his acclaimed production of the classic romantic ballet Giselle.

Curtain up is at 2pm. Please note that doors to the main school building will not open before 1:30pm.
