The Bushwick Book Club Seattle presents a concert of Original music inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Dispossessed. Performers include Eric Lane Barnes, Where's Beth, Amanda Winterhalter, Michael Owcharuk, Christine Gunn, Kuwaisiana, Jamie Laurel Averly, Helen America, Sarah Goodin, and Michael Wallenfels with host Sailor St. Claire. A physicist walks into a revolution. In The Dispossessed, the brilliant scientist Shevek leaves his anarchist moon for a capitalist planet to share a theory of time—and ends up rewriting the future. Ursula K. Le Guin’s visionary tale of walls, worlds, and radical hope is part sci-fi epic, part political thought experiment, and 100% required reading for anyone who’s ever questioned the system.

The Bushwick Book Club Seattle is the performance arm of Bushwick Northwest, a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization whose mission is to deliver literature, music, and songwriting to the Seattle community while building the next generation of musicians and readers. In 15 previous seasons, Bushwick has hosted over 400 individual performers writing and debuting original music inspired by literature. “New and innovative work that surprises and delights,” is how one local author describes the experience, while another librarian calls it “a brilliant way to expand anyone’s appreciation of words.” The theme of the 2025-2026 mainstage season is Escape Plan.
