Since 1999 Seamus O'Donnell (aka Knifeloop) has created sound art through experiments with unusual sound sources. Works can include radio frequency feedback, manipulated field recordings, self made devices, amplified objects and magnetic fields, no-input mixer as well as other more traditional instruments and voice. In a live context improvisation and discovery along the way are key elements that shape the outcome of a performance.
Over the years the focus has fluctuated between solo and collaborative endeavours, between production and live performance and between conceptual art pieces and improvised, flexible approaches.

From barely audible noises, quiet beats and the breathing of the bellows to powerful, full sounds and nervous, angular sounds, everything can be found in the accordionist's energetic playing. Improvisationally, she illuminates her instrument from different angles. Sometimes the sounds stand naked in the room, sometimes they are layered on top of each other until it sounds orchestral. She contrasts economy with abundance, control with loss of control.
