As you wander through gates and side paths, you’ll discover gardens that unfold like living mosaics. Narrow beds brim with perennials, climbing vines weave through fences and trellises, and colorful containers overflow with seasonal blooms and layered greenery. These intimate spaces feel curated and personal, where every plant has a purpose and every corner tells a story.

Other gardens remain hidden from the street, revealed only to those who wander in. Behind modest facades lie quiet courtyards, shaded nooks, cozy seating areas, and surprising bursts of color that invite visitors to slow down, linger awhile, and gather inspiration along the way.

This self-guided tour is a celebration of creativity, neighborhood charm, and everyday beauty—showing how even the smallest or most hidden spaces can become vibrant, welcoming sanctuaries in one of Dayton’s most historic and beloved neighborhoods.

Tour visitors will need to check in at the gazebo in Newcom Park to receive wristbands and tour maps before beginning the tour.

All proceeds support the native garden beds and beautification efforts of the Oregon Historic District Society.
