Dear friends,
We hope you are enjoying a beautiful summer!
We are preparing for our 4th Truth and Reconciliation Day Commemoration on September 30th from 2-5 pm at the Indigenous Welcome Garden at Templeton Park and Pool.
For the past three years, we have created this community commemoration to honour the ancestors of the Indigenous lands we live on and support stopping all forms of injustice against our Indigenous sisters and brothers. We have invited Indigenous leaders, matriarchs, artists, storytellers, musicians, and dancers to share their stories, teachings, and art, allowing us to listen and learn the truth.
We have created a family-friendly and plastic-free gathering with art activities for children and the giveaway of seeds and plants for gardens (particularly native seeds and plants) and ice cream donated by Earnest Ice Cream.
The response from the community has been amazing, with hundreds of participants each year and we would love to see you there again this year!

Jeri Sparrow - Musqueam Hereditary Matriarch
Daughters of the Drum – Drummers
Tiara Cash - Chahta (Choctaw), Tsalagi (Cherokee) and West African descendant, queer woman, speaker and musician
Miranda Dick -Secwépemc Hereditary Matriarch, land defender and singer
Sawses - Secwépemc Hereditary Chief, Residential School Survivor and land defender
Cindy Charleyboy – Tŝilhqot’in healer, dreamer, singer and artist
Greg Fitch and Elder Doreen Fitch – Tsawataineuk, Elder Doreen Fitch is a residential school survivor. Greg is a Land defender, storyteller and artist.
