Orange on the Blue Ridge: Songs and Stories
Advertisement
A concert and Q&A featuring select songs and stories from Orange on the Blue Ridge, an original Appalachian folk opera written as an ode to time, music, and place.
Orange on the Blue Ridge: Songs and Stories offers an intimate presentation of music from the original Appalachian folk opera written and directed by former Virginia Commonwealth’s Attorney Suni Mackall. Inspired by Mackall’s experiences with victims and their families during her years as a prosecutor, the work looks beyond the crimes themselves to illuminate the love and humanity that remain. The program features live performances led by musical director Morgan Morrison and other members of the Company. The writers also share stories about the creation of the music and production, and answer questions from the audience.
