Join N.C. Cooperative Extension to learn how to navigate land issues, conservation, and succession planning.About this Event
Are you maximizing the potential of your property? Whether you’ve owned land for generations or are looking to purchase your first acreage, join us on May 13 for a comprehensive deep dive into the essentials of land ownership.
Organized by the N.C. Cooperative Extension Orange County Center and NC State Extension Specialist Andrew Branan, this summit brings together the region's top experts to help you navigate:
- Financials & Taxes: Understanding Present Use Value (PUV) and cost-share programs.
- Preservation: Exploring farmland protection, conservation easements, and programs such as NC FarmLink that can connect those seeking land with farmers who want to continue to see the land in production but can no longer maintain it themselves.
- Logistics: Managing development, right-of-way maintenance, and zoning.
- Legacy: Strategic succession planning for the next generation.
Hear directly from Orange County’s Planning and Tax Departments, alongside key community and non-profit partners. This is your chance to get your questions answered and turn land-owning challenges into clear opportunities.
This Summit is open to individuals outside of Orange County as many of the topics and policies that will be covered are consistent across the State. However, please note that some of the information shared will be specific to Orange County.
A full agenda will be shared in advance of the Summit. Questions about the summit can be directed to Mike Ortoksy, Community & Rural Development Extension Agent, at [email protected] or 919-245-2336.
