How do you know what you see is real?
Vision is the result of a complex set of sensory and cognitive inputs, and these systems shape how we create and interpret images and objects.
What we perceive to be size, shape, proportion, movement, and color, are highly unstable, and easily manipulated.
Designers work with these illusions constantly, whether they know it or not.
Beginning from a basic outline of how human vision works, we'll turn to optical phenomena in visual practices, including graphics, interface design, typography, and animation.
