Opera Bohemia is back in Dumfries, bringing Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, the sparkling comic operetta that’s basically a perfectly planned night of chaos.Expect a lavish party, a little revenge, plenty of mistaken identities, and tunes you’ll be humming on the way home, all relocated from Austria to Scotland by director John Wilkie and designer Alisa Kalyanova. With a brilliant cast including Catriona Clark, Scottish Opera Emerging Artists Laura Margaret Smith and Ross Cumming, and Metropolitan Opera debut baritone Whitaker Mills, this is operetta at its most entertaining: fast, funny, and full of charm.
