About this Event

Open Research offers many opportunities for researchers to produce more visible, transparent, and rigorous research. However, many aspects of open research, particularly open access, rely on infrastructures and systems that are accessible via higher education institutions for permanent staff, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers. For instance, access to read and publish agreements with academic publishers that enable gold open access publishing is often not extended to emeritus professors, visiting fellows, professional services staff, teaching-only staff, or staff on temporary contracts, not to mention independent researchers. Some such para-academic researchers also lack access to important research infrastructures such as ethical review boards, data management plan support, or advice and training on data sharing, preregistration, and other open research processes.

This panel brings together peripheral, precarious, and para-academic researchers to discuss how open research can be made more accessible to researchers with partial or no connection to higher education institutions.

Join us online, or in person in Room PAN 201. Those joining in person are welcome from 12.30 onwards; lunch will be provided!
