About this Event

Tales of the Town — February Edition
Theme: Heartbreak

Share a story or witness one. Tales of the Town is a space where every voice has a place.
Real stories. Real people.

💔 About This Event

Heartbreak is something we all carry... even if we rarely talk about it out loud.

For our February edition of Tales of the Town, we’re creating space for stories of heartbreak in all its forms. This isn’t about dramatic performances or perfect endings. It’s about honesty, presence, and being human together.

Tales of the Town is a live open mic storytelling night where people gather to share true stories or simply listen. You don’t have to be a storyteller. You don’t have to be confident. You don’t even have to speak.

Listening is participation!

🫶 What This Space Is (and Isn’t)

This is:

  • a non-performative storytelling space
  • rooted in respect, consent, and care
  • a place to share or witness real human experiences

This is not:

  • a place for fixing or feedback
  • a performance or competition

🎤 The Theme: Heartbreak

Heartbreak doesn’t only come from romantic relationships.
It can come from:

  • endings
  • losses
  • unmet expectations
  • versions of life that never happened
  • moments where something changed forever

Your story doesn’t have to be polished or profound. It just has to be true.

💭 Story & Topic Ideas

If you’re thinking about sharing, here are some prompts you’re welcome to use:

  • A heartbreak you never expected
  • A relationship that changed you, even if it didn’t last
  • Losing someone, something, or a version of yourself
  • A moment you realized something was over
  • Heartbreak that came from silence, distance, or unspoken truth
  • A time your heart broke and what you learned (or are still learning)
  • Loving someone you had to let go of
  • Heartbreak outside of romance (family, friendship, identity, dreams)

You’re also welcome to show up without a story prepared and decide in the moment.

👥 Who This Event Is For

This night is for:

  • people who’ve experienced heartbreak in any form
  • those craving honest human connection
  • people who want to use their voice gently
  • people who want to listen and witness others

You are welcome whether you:

  • share a story
  • speak only a few words
  • or simply sit and listen

🕯 Community Agreements

To keep this space safe, we ask that everyone honors the following:

  • We listen without interrupting
  • We don’t fix, correct, or give feedback
  • Stories shared here stay here
  • We respect time and the courage it takes to speak
