A 230-year-old East End boozer with a long tradition of live music and gangster lore (it was the Kray family’s local, just a few doors down from the twins’ childhood home), The Marquis is now full of great music, East End hospitality and a cracking bunch of locals. Known for its ridiculously cheap pints and family-friendly atmosphere (in the daytime), it’s a pub with soul, stories, and plenty of scar tissue. Many nights you’ll hear live music drifting through the net curtains, see dogs curled under dartboards, big crowds for Arsenal matches, and locals playing pool all day long. They’ve taken a living slice of London’s East End heritage and quietly kitted it out with a couple of KRK studio monitors and a small industry-standard tech package to give quality sound reinforcement and a natural, balanced directionality to the room.
