About this Event
Open Coffee with David Garrigus + Student-Made JMU Pop-up Sale
Filmmaker David Garrigus
Join us for a special Open Coffee featuring filmmaker David Garrigus, creator of the documentary The American Constitution. Over coffee and conversation, David Garrigus will share insights from his national film tour, the process of bringing America’s founding debates to life on screen, and why civic education and storytelling matter now more than ever.
The American Constitution explores the dramatic summer of 1787, when figures like Washington, Madison, and Hamilton confronted near-collapse to design a new system of government—long before modern political parties existed. Drawing exclusively from the Founders’ own words, the film blends historical scholarship with compelling theatrical storytelling.
This informal, interactive conversation is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members interested in entrepreneurship, leadership, democracy, storytelling, history, and civic engagement.
Enjoy free coffee and Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dots while you gain insights that transcend traditional business boundaries. Also, don’t miss the Student-Made JMU pop-up sale, where you can shop handmade crafts created by fellow Dukes!
