About this Event
In April, the Berkeley Art Center will launch the Open Center, expanding how we use our space beyond traditional gallery exhibitions. The Open Center will serve as a hub where ideas, artists, and community intersect, offering opportunities for interdisciplinary, intercultural, and inter-philosophical dialogue, reflection, and activation.
OPEN CENTER: Artists Take Political Action:
Announcing Artists Take Political Action, co-organized with Quinn Keck. Artists Take Political Action is a gathering where we connect issues from the populace to the politicians. We are reframing direct political action as art.
About: An organizing principle started by artists in the Bay Area
- What do we consider direct political action?
- Postcard signing, phone banking, letter writing, email campaigns, protesting, and political canvassing.
- Actions that amplify the voices of constituents.
