OPEN AUDITIONS – The Holiday Heist - Another original from EDE! This show is a fun, fast, and vibrant fusion of jazz, swing, character dance, ballet, lyrical, and tap dance.

Ellensburg Dance Ensemble invites dancers ages 6-adult to audition for our original brand new story: The Holiday Heist: A Winter Whodunnit!
Winter Town is preparing for its beloved Holiday Parade when disaster strikes: the town's treasured Magical Snow Globe vanishes in the middle of the celebration. With the town in an uproar, five colorful detectives arrive to help the Mayor and Townsfolk solve the mystery. This funny and energetic production will blend jazz, swing, character dance, ballet, lyrical, tap, and creative storytelling to bring this entirely made-up story to the stage.

Ages 6-8 - Time: 2pm-2:30
Ages 9-13 - Time: 2:45pm-3:15pm
Ages 13-Adult - Time: 3:30pm-4:00pm
Location: The Studio by EDE - 118 East 4th
Principal Roles (additional lead roles may be added as story develops)
Mayor of Winter Town - Character, Jazz, Partnering
Detective 1 – The Smooth One - Ballet, Lyrical, Character
Detective 2 – The Brainy One - Tap, Jazz
Detective 3 – The Dreamy One - Jazz, Character, Ballet Partnering
Detective 4 – The Hotshot One - Jazz, Musical Theatre, Swing
Detective 5 – The Quiet One (The Thief) - Contemporary, Ballet, Character Acting
Featured Ensemble (additional ensemble roles may be added as story develops)
Frozen Statues (pointe)
Snowflakes (ballet/lyrical)
Shadow Street Figures (jazz)
Townsfolk (mix of styles of dance):

What We’re Looking For:
Dancers with passion, imagination, and a spirit of collaboration. All studios and community members welcome—you are not required to be enrolled in a dance class at The Studio by EDE, but we sure encourage it!
About the Show:
Directed by Serena Scheffer-Arango, creator of EDE's productions, The Little Prince, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. and The Nutcracker & The Battle for the Key, this new performance blends classical technique with modern theatricality for a family-friendly holiday performance. Choreographers including Serena, Emma, Katie, and Alyssa will set amazing and fun dance scenes for everyone that will challenge and improve your dance technique!

Audition Expectations & Preparation:
Dancers should arrive early to warm up and prepare for a jazz and ballet-based audition, including center work and across-the-floor combinations.
Pointe dancers should bring their pointe shoes and be ready to demonstrate technique.
Tap dancers should bring their tap shoes and be prepared to demonstrate technique.
Some dancers may be asked to demonstrate character movement or tumbling.
Be prepared to learn and perform short choreography sequences.
We want to see your acting skills as well! Show us your personality.
Wear appropriate dance attire (leotard, tights, ballet shoes, tap shoes, or pointe shoes as applicable).
Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals begin the weekend of September 26th and will be held:
Saturdays: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Sundays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Not all dancers may be called every weekend or for both days. Most ensemble dancers can expect to spend 1-2 hours at rehearsals per weekend, depending upon casting. Lead roles can expect longer rehearsals.
Some solo rehearsals for advanced dancers may be scheduled on weeknight evenings, if needed.
**Rehearsals WILL take place the weekend AFTER THANKSGIVING - NOVEMBER 28 & 29 - SO PLEASE BE SURE TO NOTE THIS BEFORE AUDITIONING ** We have fewer opportunities to run through and for dress rehearsals because of the theatre schedule, so we'll need everyone here for this weekend.
PLEASE NOTE ALL FOLLOWING DATES BEFORE SIGNING UP - MORGAN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IS A HEAVILY USED FACILITY. THIS YEAR OUR PRODUCTION IS INTERRUPTED BY SEVERAL OTHER USES AND SO TECH WEEK IS A BIT ODD. PLEASE CHECK CAREFULLY THAT THE TIMES AND DATES WORK FOR YOUR SCHEDULE. ALL DANCERS MUST ATTEND ALL TECH WEEK AND ALL PERFORMANCE DATES. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Production Fees & Discounts:
A $50 company membership fee is assessed for each dancer and helps cover the cost of costumes and other production expenses.
Dancers who help find show sponsors equal to or higher in value will have their production fee waived.
Dancers who participate in a show receive a 10% discount on attending classes at EDE (discounts cannot be stacked with other class discounts)
