Opelousas have a unique and hauntingly-hypnotic take on blues and rock that will leave you mesmerised. Their rhythms seep into your bloodstream and their powerful performances leave punters crying out for more.
Formed by Kerri Simpson in 2018, this female-fronted Melbourne-based trio is named after Opelousas, a small city in Louisiana which claims to be the “spice capital of the world”. The band from down south in Australia have taken that responsibility to heart, injecting all manner of ingredients into their blend of musical sorcery. There’s a touch of grunge, a sniff of smokin’ blues, some punk funk and even a little Appalachia.
