Join us for the One Year Remembrance Protest to honor the memory of the many innocent lives lost. Since the killing of Amelia on 1/30/23 and then the mass killing on 9/20/23 taking the lives of 13 more and 1 additional being killed 9/21/23 numerous lives have been unjustly taken. While the exact details of most who were unjustly killed remain unknown, we are aware that from 1/1/23 to 7/31/24 the numbers of animals who lost their lives in FAR too many. Some of these animals were classified as dangerous by law, but only a small percentage fell into this category.
Furthermore, we cannot confirm which dogs were truly experiencing an irremediable prognosis or a truly terminal injury or illness. SCRAPS has recently labeled any dog not deemed dangerous by law as having an "irremediable prognosis, history of biting, and aggressive towards people" but this classifications are often applied to any behavior they consider unfit for a dog.
It is CRUCIAL that we remain on the sidewalks. We can not be on the property of SCRAPS at all. This is for legal purposes and so we aren’t hindering employees or volunteers from doing their jobs.
As always, This is a peaceful protest. That means we will not support nor participate in any form of harassment, aggressive communication, vandalism, violence, threats, etc. We will ask you to leave the protest if you behave this way.
We need to stand together as a community and demand positive change. We firmly believe that the termination of the senior director, director, and operations manager at SCRAPS is necessary to ensure the well-being of the shelter animals. Together, we can make our voices heard and work towards a more compassionate and humane environment for these innocent creatures while remembering all of the lives tragically cut short.
So mark your calendars for September 22nd, 2024 from 1pm-3pm. Let's stand united, demand change, and make a difference in the lives of animals in our community!
Please share this post and spread the word, we need to show Spokane County that this issue matters to our community. The more people, the better.
