The Not Your Average Theater Group proudly presents the world premiere workshop production

of the hilarious and heartfelt new musical “ONE SUMMER IN BROOKLYN.” The show will open on

February 8 in Soref Hall at the Soref Jewish Community Center in Plantation.

Filled with laughter and tears, “ONE SUMMER IN BROOKLYN” takes place in 1962 in

Brooklyn and tells the story of a Jewish girl who meets a Cuban boy. What could go wrong?

“ONE SUMMER IN BROOKLYN” is based on the hit play “RACHEL AND JULIO,” which

was performed to sold-out houses and great acclaim in South Florida, New York City, and Los Angeles,

among many other venues. The musical is co-written by “The Greatest American Hero” T.V. and film

star William Katt, Carrol Mendelson, and Mitchell Uscher. William Katt co-wrote the original play with Carrol Mendelson.

“ONE SUMMER IN BROOKLYN” is filled with heartwarming and humorous songs by the

award-winning songwriting team of lyricist Mitchell Uscher and composer Roy Singer. They also created the hit musical “MAMALEH!” which has been performed hundreds of times all over the country.

The cast of “ONE SUMMER IN BROOKLYN” features Rachel Kleinman, Sergio Fuenzalida,

Madeline Finkelman, Sebastian Baena, Fern Katz, Peter Salzer, Elaine Budnick, Sharyn Peoples, Amedeo Falgiatore, Barry Katz, Mitchell Schwartz, Myra Graves, and Richard Schwartz. It is directed by award-winning director Mitchell Uscher.

Performances for this production of “ONE SUMMER IN BROOKLYN” will take place at 2 PM
