PROGRAMME
I FEEL YOU
Film Maker: Giannandrea Carpanzano | Run Time: 5 minutes
In the heart of the abyss, the silent and vital soul of the ocean has preserved the balance between all forms of life for millennia. However, today this balance is gravely threatened by pollution, which advances relentlessly, suffocating the vitality of the ocean's soul. Plastic and waste invade the surface, the seabed fills with debris, and the soul of the ocean now struggles to survive in an increasingly hostile environment. Nature sends out a silent cry, and only those who know how to listen can appreciate the urgency to act. Only true awareness and concrete actions will allow the soul of the ocean to dance again as it once did. This is not just a battle for the sea but for the future of the entire planet. With nature's resilience and human will, the oceans can come back to life, becoming a symbol of hope for a cleaner and more sustainable world. The short "I FEEL YOU" supports the mission of Spazzapnea ODV: to protect and preserve the biodiversity of our seas, promoting environmental awareness and the importance of direct action through seabed and beaches cleaning initiatives.
SOULS
Film Maker: Ian Mun | Run Time: 11.75 minutes
SOULS is the memoir of 6 extraordinary individuals whose lives have been deeply intertwined with the ocean. These powerhouses have set countless records, accomplished by many firsts, and pioneered groundbreaking achievements. This film shares with us their stories, experiences, challenges with the primary mission to inspire future generations of ocean advocates.
THE JAGUAR HOUSE
Film Maker: Ben Meadows | Run Time: 9.5 minutes
Dogs. Turtles. Jaguars. People. In a sleepy beach town in the Yucatan, these 4 characters intersect in a negative way. But a special forces soldier has an idea. It's a house.
KOHOLĀ
Film Maker: Daniel Sullivan | Run Time: 14.5 minutes
In the aftermath of the Lahaina wildfires, the return of the koholā (humpback whales) provides a powerful symbol of hope and healing. "Koholā" explores the cultural significance of these majestic creatures to the Hawaiian people, showcasing how their presence reaffirms ancestral connections and offers a path towards recovery.
ONE SHOT
Film Maker: Nicolas Pina | Run Time: 14 minutes
Surfer Eurico Romaguera and photographer Jorge Abian set out to capture a wave in Greenland, created by a calving glacier.
OUT OF THE OFFICE
Film Maker: Alex Clapin | Run Time: 7 minutes
“Out of the Office” follows Gus Boisson, a daring sailor and dreamer, as he crosses the Atlantic to close one chapter of his life and begin another. Leaving behind a secure engineering career in Brazil, Gustavo shares his journey of adventure over stability, navigating both the literal and emotional storms of life at sea. Through humor, vulnerability, and hard-won wisdom, he shares the lessons that inspired him to help others achieve their own dreams. This film is a celebration of courage, resilience, and living life to its fullest, because as Gustavo reminds us “you never know if tomorrow will come.”
IN EXILE
Film Maker: Nathan Fitch | Run Time: 11 minutes
A short film exploring the US nuclear legacy in the Pacific through the lens of members of the Marshallese community in Arkansas. Moved from their islands by the US for a series of nuclear tests in Bikini Atoll commencing in 1946, these Pacific Islanders remain in exile 78 years later.
WHERE THE WINDS TAKE YOU
Film Maker: Nate Dodge | Run Time: 12 minutes
Embracing the power of the arctic wind just 10 degrees shy of the North Pole, a sailboat captain sails North dodging icebergs, exploring remote fjords, and experiencing a close encounter with the ultimate apex predator.
CORAL’S LAST STAND
Film Maker: Jane Hammond | Run Time: 28 minutes
Perched on the edge of the continental shelf, 300km from the Australian mainland lies Scott Reef. This ancient coral atoll, isolated for millions of years from other reef systems and mainland influences, has developed its own sub populations of unique species. But Scott Reef is under threat. The reef sits on a huge reservoir of gas known as the Browse Basin. Global corporation Woodside and its joint venture partners want to drill for gas and oil under the reef ecosystem. Corals' Last Stand follows the voyage of a team of prominent Australians including author Tim Winton and musician John Butler as they travel to the reef to bring worldwide attention to the impact that drilling will have on this special place.
