Health is going to pets and their humans on Sunday, November 9, as the Louisiana SPCA and the New Orleans Health Department join forces for One Health New Orleans. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LASPCA New Orleans Campus (1700 Mardi Gras Blvd.), this heartwarming community wellness event celebrates National One Health Week with free and affordable health services for both people and pets. This event comes at the perfect time to help pets and their families stay healthy before the busy holiday season. It is a “shot” at better health for everyone. Guests can roll up their sleeves for free vaccines—including COVID-19, flu, pneumonia, and shingles—while furry friends receive free rabies, DHPP, Bordetella (for dogs), and FVRCP (for cats) vaccines provided by Petco Love.
The Inner Pup will also offer a six-month supply of discounted heartworm testing, prevention, and flea/tick medications for an additional fee of $50, helping pets stay healthy long after the event.
Attendees can also access free STI/HIV testing courtesy of Crescent Care and explore a variety of community resources from partners like Petco Love, Medical Reserve Corps, and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA).
“One Health reminds us that people, pets, and our planet share the same heartbeat,” said Ana Zorrilla, CEO of the Louisiana SPCA. “By coming together for wellness, we’re building a stronger, healthier, and happier New Orleans for every species.”
Food trucks will be available for guests to enjoy a variety of meals and snacks during the event, and free parking will be provided.
