For over 20 years, the One Door Mental Health Symposium has brought together leading advocates, researchers and practitioners to share research and workshop insights that drive meaningful change in the mental health sector.
With the theme of Shaping Community Together: Lived Experience and Innovation in Mental Health, this year's in-person thought leadership event represents One Door Mental Health's and Mind Australia's shared commitment to positively contribute to sector reform in New South Wales.

Info: Tim Heffernan is an experienced consumer peer worker who is passionate about the development and support of the peer workforce. He identifies as a person with a lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery and has held several significant roles in the mental health and wellbeing sector. These include serving as former Deputy Commissioner with the NSW Mental Health Commission, Co-Chair of the National Mental Health Commissionβs National Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Strategy Steering Committee and Deputy Co-Chair of the National Peer Workforce Development Guidelines Steering Committee.

Info: Following a presentation by Dr Laura Hayes on the research which identifies the effectiveness and strengths of recovery-based models of Step Up/Step Down services, we will dive into an interactive discussion with Liam Annetts and others to consider the models that already exist both in NSW and in other states and what enhancements could be made.
