One City, Many Stories: What’s Your Connection with Athens?

How does it feel to be in a new city, in a new place? And how differently do we experience the same city?
For the third year, Inter Alia and College Year in Athens bring together CYA students and people living in Athens to explore their different experiences of the city through art, conversation and collective creation.
This year, we will create one city together.
Working on a large shared piece of paper, newcomers and locals will be invited to bring their own experiences of Athens into a collective artwork. Using different materials, images, words, colours and shapes, participants will gradually build a city that reflects the many different ways Athens can be seen, experienced and imagined.
For some, Athens is a completely new place. For others, it is home. And for many of us, our relationship with the city is constantly changing.
What makes us feel that we belong to a place? What makes a city feel unfamiliar? Which parts of Athens feel welcoming, exciting, frustrating or inaccessible? What would we change about the city, and what would we want to preserve?
No artistic experience is needed. Come with your experiences, observations and ideas, and help us build our version of Athens together.
This is not a typical “discover the city” workshop. It is a space to question, exchange and create.
