Once Upon A Mattress is a full-length, comedic musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. In a far-off kingdom, the overbearing Queen Aggravain has decreed that no one may marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, finds a true princess who can pass her impossible tests. After many hopefuls fail, the quirky swamp princess Winnifred the Woebegone arrives. Despite her unconventional ways, she wins over the prince and ultimately succeeds at the Queen’s “sensitivity test,” proving her royal worth and bringing joy and marriage back to the kingdom.
