This humorous adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s 1835 fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea” has endured on stages of all kinds for 65 years. The fun and frolicking musical comedy first opened off-Broadway in 1959 and moved to Broadway the following year starring Carol Burnett as Princess Winnifred.
With quirky characters, catchy songs and a dose of royal intrigue, “Once Upon a Mattress” spins a tale of a kingdom where finding a true princess proves to be more challenging than expected.
