Create fairy tales and share ideas with young writers at Jelly's creative writing workshop, led by Igniting Writing for all 11-17 year olds!
About this Event

Classic fairy tales, like Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella, exist in cultures around the world and have been passed down and retold for centuries. But what is it that makes fairy tales so timeless? And how can they be reimagined in the modern day? Join us to explore the core elements of fairy tale stories and have a go at creating your own fictional folktales, full of larger than life characters and vivid descriptions! This workshop is open to any young writers between 11-17 years old, with both experienced writers and total beginners welcome.

This workshop will be led by Alex Baker, the founder and group leader of teen creative writing club Igniting Writing. Alex is a volunteer at Wokingham Library, where he set Igniting Writing up in 2014 with the goal of bringing young writers together to develop their creative writing and make friends in a fun, relaxed group setting. In the years since Igniting Writing sessions began, he has worked with thousands of young writers and been invited to lead creative writing taster sessions in dozens of schools, youth clubs and libraries across Berkshire. More information about Igniting Writing's Wokingham Library sessions can be found here:

To register for Igniting Writing sessions at Wokingham Library, please visit the Wokingham Library event page and type 'Igniting Writing' into the 'search for library events' box.

These sessions are designed for tweens and teens to stay without an adult. A parent or carer is required to complete an emergency contact form when booking the ticket.
