Ti Moune, a fearless peasant girl on a Caribbean island divided by class, who falls in love with a wealthy boy, Daniel, after rescuing him from a storm, leading her on a quest guided by island gods (Asaka, Agwe, Erzulie, Papa Ge) to prove love conquers death and social barriers, culminating in her ultimate sacrifice and transformation into a tree that unites the people.
