Ready to Level Up Your Kayak Fishing Game?Take your skills from the classroom to the water in our On-the-Water Kayak Fishing Workshop! This immersive experience is perfect for new and developing anglers ready to put their knowledge into action. With the guidance of experienced NCWRC staff and skilled volunteer instructors, you’ll gain real-world, hands-on practice—from gearing up and launching your kayak to casting lines and reeling in fish on the lake.
You’ll sharpen your paddling fundamentals, learn how to manage your kayak fishing trip from start to finish, and apply your new techniques while actually fishing on sheltered waters. All equipment and tackle are provided—just bring your sense of adventure!
Space is limited, and this workshop is offered just once per person each year—don’t miss your chance!
Before You Go:
Completion of our Introduction to Kayak Fishing program is required before attending.
You must have either completed a basic fishing skills course or received instructor approval.
Open to ages 14 , with participating adult required for youth aged 14–15.
A valid NC fishing license is required.
Physical Requirements:
Max kayak capacity: 275 lbs
Ability to swim and manage your own mobility
Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to enter/exit a sit-on-top kayak independently or with reasonable help
