About this Event
Like all wine styles in the global market, orange wine covers a wide range of flavor profiles. In short, any wine that is made from white grapes using the skins of the grapes to impart color, texture, or tannin into the final product can be called an orange wine. It's been argued by wine historians that orange wine was actually the first style of wine ever made, but in recent years, it has had a huge reemergence, especially in the natural wine community.
While we have always been able to enjoy the rich, savory, and often tannic traditional amphora wines of Georgia, today, we are seeing more and more innovative and modern productions of the style resulting in fresh, fruity, and sometimes funky characteristics. Let's sit down and try the range from light skin-contact to bold fully skin-fermented, so that next time someone asks you if you like orange wine, you can give an informed answer!
Join us for a casual seated wine class where we will talk about the history, science, and flavors behind the orange wine phenomenon at Planet Wine. At this class, our Wine Director, Erin Dudley, will help you navigate this somewhat confusing ancient wine style growing in popularity.
Included with your ticket:
- Seated wine class with certified sommelier and Neighborhood Restaurant Group Wine Director, Erin Dudley CSW
- Tasting of six fine wines from sustainable vineyards around the world
- Small serving of artisanal cheese and bread to accompany your tasting
- Discounts on bottle purchases of all wines tasted
