Tuesday September 1 - Intro to Zero Waste Class 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday September 1 - Tour Choctaw Nation Recycling Facility (MRF) 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday September 1 - Annual Cookout and networking time 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Wednesday September 2 - Conference 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Activities on September 1st

  • Introduction to Zero Waste - presented by Zero Waste USA.

Introduction to Zero Waste is a four-hour class designed,m hosted, and taught by Zero Waste USA staff. Participants will learn about Zero Waste principles, the Zero Waste International Alliance's (AWIA)definition, and the Zero Waste Hierarchy during this class. Participants will also be intorduced to Zero Waste principles and planning techniques for businesses, institutions, and communities. Class will be at the Choctaw Nation Headquarters, 1802 Chukka Hina, Durant, OK 74701. The class will be from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There will be an hour break for lunch. Lunch is not provided, but their is a food court available in the building.

  • Free Tour of the Choctaw Nation Recycling Facility

See how the Choctaw Nation Successfully recycles tons of waste each month and join this tour. The tour will begin at 3:30 p.m. and last for about an hour. Closed toe shoes are required.


  • OKRA Annual Cookout and Cornhole Tournament

Tuesday, September 1st.

This is an opportunity to meet conference attendees, speakers, sponsors and venders. This will take place at The Choctaw Nation Recycling Center. Chappell Supply & Equipment is sponsoring the cookout. Menu TBD ( Vegetarian options will be available through registration.) BYOB - Bring your own beverage if you want something other than water, iced tea, or lemonade. Seating is limited, so bring your own chair.

Registration and sign-in for the Corn Hole tournament is at 5:00 p.m. The tournament will start at 5:30 p.m. You must be present at 5:30 to participate in the Tournament.

Oklahoma's Annual Recycling Conference is held each fall. The conference brings together municipal recycling coordinators, waste management professionals, educators, government officials, business leaders, and environmental advocates for two full days of education, networking, and collaboration.

Since 2008, OKRA has hosted annual conferences addressing the most pressing challenges and opportunities in Oklahoma recycling — from contamination reduction and rural recycling solutions to circular economy innovation and community stewardship.
