Celebrate the opening of five Queensland First Nations exhibitions as Cairns Art Gallery comes alive on the lawn!
Join us on the Mulgrave lawn for an evening of art, live music, food, drink and special guests. Follow our arts trail across three Heritage Listed buildings, the Public Curators Building, Court House Building and Mulgrave Building are all open late for you to explore at your own pace.
Five exhibitions by Queensland First Nations artists span the precinct:
Brush: Women Painters
Philomena Yeatman: Babim, Muudjum, Djanguul
Sam Harrison: Kin’O’Centrism
Spirits In The Ink
Woven Together: Undivided We Rise
On the lawn, Mualgal/Waray/Wulli Wulli/Yiman artist DJ Eyeaam opens the night, followed by the Broden Tyrell Band, a six-piece bringing depth, energy and soul.
We are honoured to welcome Professor Henrietta Fourmile-Marrie AM (Gimuy Walubara Yidinji) to deliver a Welcome to Country.
MC for the evening is Talicia Minniecon — Kabi Kabi and Gooreng Gooreng, & Kemer Kemer Meriam and Maluilgal - Zenadth Kes & Vanuatu, Hanuabada, Kanaky - Pasifika woman and founder of Mob Made Media & Communications Agency.
Food and drinks are available to purchase from vendors including Audrey Vintage Bar, and the precinct will be animated by inflatable artworks by Gunggandji artist Michelle Yeatman.
