On Location: Downtown Detroit Street Photography Discussion and Walk With Evan Deutsch

Join DPPA for a morning of street photography, creative discussion, and exploration in the heart of Downtown Detroit with photographer Evan Deutsch.
Whether you're an experienced street photographer or simply curious about photographing life in public spaces, this event offers an opportunity to slow down, observe, and capture the moments, details, and stories unfolding around us every day.
We will meet at the Spirit of Detroit statue and begin a guided photo walk through downtown, exploring the city's architecture, people, light, shadows, reflections, textures, and urban landscapes. Along the way, Evan will share his approach to street photography, discuss techniques for creating stronger images, and offer insights into recognizing and capturing compelling moments as they happen.
Partway through the walk, we'll stop at Spkrbox, one of Detroit's most unique coffee shops, for coffee, conversation, and additional photographic opportunities. Following the event, attendees are welcome to continue the discussion over an optional lunch nearby.
One of the best aspects of street photography is that there is no single right way to approach it. Some photographers are drawn to candid human moments, while others focus on architecture, graphic elements, shadows, reflections, or abstract urban scenes. Bring the camera and lenses you're most comfortable using and photograph what inspires you.
This event is open to photographers of all skill levels and is designed to be an enjoyable, educational, and collaborative experience.

About Evan Deutsch:
Evan Deutsch began his photographic journey in 2022 photographing birds and wildlife. While wildlife photography provided a strong foundation, he soon discovered a passion for street photography while documenting protests in Chicago.
Drawn to the emotion, energy, storytelling, and decisive moments found in public spaces, Evan has become captivated by the challenge of creating images that tell powerful stories in a single frame. His work emphasizes observation, timing, and finding beauty in everyday life.
In addition to street photography, Evan enjoys macro photography and exploring the intricate details of the natural world.
We hope you'll join us for a morning of photography, learning, and community as we explore Downtown Detroit together.
